An interesting article on Inside Facebook was posted in March that shows Facebook’s rapid growth in the “over 35″ segment. Even though I didn’t stumble across it for over three months after posting, I still feel it is worth mentioning for the following reasons:

- There is a perception that Facebook is a teen-only phenomena, these statistics shows this is clearly not true.
- The “over 35″ segment of the population has a whole lot more buying power than the “under 35″ segment.
- Facebook provides an easy way put your message in front of your social network as well as connect with people who may share your interests.
I’m not saying you should sign up for Facebook with the intention of only using to communicate your special offers or talk only about business. In fact, if that is all you do you may find that people tend to tune you out. So if you do sign on to Facebook, be sure to interact with people and talk about more than just business.
The truth is, however, that mentioning your business not unexpected and acceptable. It is a large part of who you are, after all. It is also a good way of stearing people to your site if you have something interesting for people to see.
